DIY & Garden Show

Website:

Profile:

Organised by Brintex Events, The DIY & Garden Show and Totally Tools is an opportunity for retailers and buyers, whatever their size, to find new products at the beginning of the year to generate new sales. It is a one-stop-shop for the UK home and garden improvement business, which gives visitors and exhibitors the chance to meet an talk face-to-face with a wealth of potential suppliers.

Industry:

Trade shows and exhibitions.

Challenge:

To build an Exhibitor administration section whereby the events department could administer all the details of the attending Exhibitors, from their general company information to contact details, product offerings, images and associated categorisations.

Provide excel downloads of Exhibitor information to allow the Studio Department to collate the show catalogue in advance of the event.

Solution:

Provided a web-based Exhibitor Zone whereby each individual Exhibitor can log in and add or update their show details.

Provided a set of web-based administrations screens where the Event Administrator can login, add, update and approve Exhibitor information.

Impact:

Emphasis on adding an updating Exhibitor information is removed from the web development team following initial bulk upload of basic Exhibitor data. This allowed for a considerable cost saving measured in weeks of development work per show cut down to a number of days for initial site configuration.

Emphasis on maintaining the correct detail is therefore placed on the Exhibitor in the first instance and then the Administrator in the second. By separating the concerns, less time is required by the Show Administrator to correct and amend details which will be displayed on the web and the show catalogue.

The provision of excel data downloads allowed for instantaneous access to the Exhibitor information without the need for further data transformations.
