The LocalGov Directory contains contact details for all 467 UK Local Authorities and includes over 50,000 individual contacts from local government and the wider public sector. This resource enables users to direct their queries to the correct person within an authority or association, and makes finding that person a quicker and easier process than on or within any other website or printed publication. Related news stories and biographies are also linked from an individual contact.

Challenge:
Provide a means by which local council editorial contacts can securely update council information. This information includes key council details, resources and facts and details on officers, councillors, committees and cabinets.
Replace an antiquated web interface built in ASP.
Solution:
Develop an interactive web interface built on ColdFusion and utilising Ajax technologies to provide a rich interactive experience to the end user.
Impact:
Removed the need for editorial staff within the company to add and update all 467 local council’s information. Reduced lead times for updating an entry to a 48 hour maximum.
